For me, not always but yes. Maybe cause we have never met or been acquainted with them. More than the style, I especially hate the fact that every cultural nuance in any translation just gets thrown away while translating into english to making it easier to understand. Not to forget the western names in manhua/manhwa / localization. No I want Jiang or Xing Or Kwon. I don't want Henry, Matthew ffs.
I can’t read webtoons with like a “western” or “american” style, i can’t explain it but I find reading webtoons where the characters look western really puts me off, it also applies to movies and such, I just don’t find them very appealing. I don’t know if it’s because I grew up in an asian country surrounded by faces that look like mine or if it’s like unconscious repulsion from remembering racist and hateful comments and unpleasant experiences with yt ppl online
