I don't think we should feel any bad for leina because whatever happens with her was her own greed. In her first lifeline she was never satisfied with what she got and always complain that why she didn't got more to the point that she even started to resent ethel. The reason she end up like this is all because of her jealousy and greed
1. Even In her first lifeline she resent that Ethel reject Duke cassis offer to be adopted and even argue with her friend that she should have just be adopted and live a good life and even regret that why she hide from duke and think that if dule have saw how similar she look to duchess and would have adopted her.
2. When Ethel graduated from academy she even recommended Leina to cassis mansion and got her a job with bare minimum work to do and I think she even was Ethel personal attendent or follower but she still feel jealous that it's not her who is getting those luxury.
3. When leina heard servants talking that she look a lot like duchess she even thought that if she turnout to be their real daughter she would get a lot of luxury and can live a good life.(She even tell Leandro about this which made him really angry and he ask her if she thinks that his more is not faithfully woman who would hide her child from her family)
4. When Ethel rejected Leandro proposal leina got really angry on her that why is she rejecting the good and luxurious future she can have from there her resentment for her grew even more.
In her 2nd life
1 when leina got reincarnated she decided to take Ethel opportunity and got adopted into cassis with the help of orphanage director (later she even killed him and everyone involved so her secret won't be revealed)
2. Later she let cassis household mistreat Ethel because she was scared that after they came close to Ethel they would stop loving her and because of that she encourage them to stop mistreat her
3 during the wedding dress incident leina decided to try the wedding dress thinking Ethel would be happy seeing her being cute and beautiful just like how every one does and even thought that buy during that she making her friend happy and treating her with the same kindness as she does with her.
After Ethel reincarnation
1. When Ethel decided to not give her mine to leina she didn't even hesitated to start the territorial war and was even ready to kill others.
2. Later in the story when it she was charged with the crime of fraudulent she even used her blessings given by goddess to claim in front of everyone that she is a saint and can't do any of these crimes. Because of it she was even ready to sacrifice already claimed saint candidate ( even though that candidate was also fake it was not her choice and she only got here because the priest manipulate her by claiming that she is one)
3. Later when she was in prison and waiting for her death she even accepted the offer of evil god and even forced Ethel to come with her because both of.them are the only one in this world whom they can thrust.
4. With evil god's help when she gets out of prison which even led to the death of empress and even get emperor seriously hurt and she wasn't even remorseful about it and said that it was just a small sacrifice for everything.
5. She lose her blessings when she confront the goddess and got to know that goddess doesn't love her and her getting transmigrate and getting blessings was more like a lucky draw for goddess.
The only think I don't understand is why she has a grudge against main lead
Because from what I know she didn't meet him in her first lifeline.
