I mean sure but it's not like Ian didn't give him chances to not get involved. He keeps coming back to Ian. Jo has ask Ian and Ian told him about how he has killed someone and was in a gang.That should've been a red flag from the beginning but he didn't leave did he? He saw Ian kill someone and he still walk back to Ian. He's can very much leave unscathed and not get involved with Ian after Ian left that note but he still went and found Ian. This is not a choice that was force upon him. He chose Ian and what can you do about it.
