I aint saying she should turn into a tree right there and then. But they can put heavy angst in the plot. They already change how things started. Like wheres her extreme opposing emotions? Or like his extremely narcissistic persistence? Its not enough.

Its like when ur trying out bungy jumping for the first time blind folded but turns out urfriends pranked u and just let you jumped on from a meter tall edge. U anticipated a really nice tragic plot coz u know the myth. And u saw how they tweaked the start. Then they just made her melted willingly in the end.

I'm not saying she should either, I'm just telling you that she hates her gut so much she wants to turn into a tree. Her being suddenly compliant and have the it is what it is attitude takes away how Daphne is fighting Apollo so hard in Greek Mytho but because she wants to retain her sense of self and identity. That's why she turned into a Lauren Tree.
