I appreciate the dimensions the author is putting into the characters, even the evil ones.

Don't get me wrong, Lister and Lysbet are terrible people but we could see the depth of his love for his sister and sadness at her illness. And, despite Lysbet having had a hand in Sylhan’s demise, she does seem regretful (which actually makes her actions worse). People are full of ambiguity and it’s portrayed well here.

    Saame, that hypocrisy that we humans have sometimes of "I know I did something terrible but it was for the greater good" when in reality we sometimes don't do it for the greater good of others but for ourselves, and that's exactly what happened with Lysbets actions
