So they made some changes from the novel

Just some things I noticed.

1) In the novel, this scene plays out differently. Radan broke his ankle when he fell, which causes him to almost get caught in front of the fountain by Leshak. Radan dodges Leshak's hand to avoid getting caught but, ends up falling into the fountain because of his broken ankle. Then when he's in the fountain because of the moss, round bottom and broken ankle he struggles to get up which results in another scuffle with Leshak trying to help Radan and Radan trying to escape. It's at this point Radan makes eye contact with Leshak in the water's reflection. (I feel like the changed it to make the scene less violent, but it felt like they removed the tension away from the scene because in the novel the chapters reads as a high pressure, high stakes scene where Radan is desperately trying to escape only to mess up in the heat of the moment).

2) In the novel, Radan was COVERED in hand marks, bruises, bite marks and hickeys to the point that in the next chapter, when the Prince's maid, doctor and guardian knights see Radan they are HORRIFIED. The doctor heavily scolds Leshak and particularly emphasizes that the bite mark on the back of Radan's neck is so bad, it will never fully heal for the rest of Radan's life. After which the guardian knights look at Leshak with contempt and see him differently because of the violence he inflicted onto Radan. Again I feel like they changed the story to make it less violent but they still included the ML r*ping Radan??? (which is still a form of violence, so????) Tbh, I'm kind of annoyed because this novel is one of the few where the characters actually call out and condemn r*pe and violence towards a MC and the surrounding characters look at the ML with disgust and contempt for their actions. I mean they might still include it but it feels like they are watering the story down to make the ML more palatable. But, he's still a r*pist, sooooo?

Thank you for taking the time to write all of this, I also read the novel and i agree that the manhwa has definitely watered down all the really intense parts of the story which honestly changes the whole tone and it kinda pisses me off. The manhwa makes it seem like what's happening to Radan isnt that bad when in reality he suffers so much worse in the novel. :(

Could you tell me where i can read the novel?

I agree , they should of left it the way it was in the novel , this chapter doesn't have that much violence compared to ahem "war" fights or the grapes. It kind of took away some breaking points between them. Even the fountain doesnt seem as deep as for Radan to fall under the water.

Can you give a general idea what chapter from the novel would be the current chapter here?

This is correct (I reread those chapters before I made my post because I like to be relatively accurate when making with references). I think it's considered chapter 37/38 depending on the site

okay good, thank you for confirming. I remembered it was in the 2nd volume somewhere but I read the novel last year so I wasn't sure if it was right at the start of volume 2 or a little before it!

This is exactly the point I was trying to convey. It feels like by removing the more violent aspects they are trying to make the male lead less of a red flag and downplay the trauma the MC is going through, which ironically makes the story more problematic. Because at least in the novel when the male lead acted awful, everyone including himself agreed it was super f*cked up and unforgivenable. But, now it feels like the story is downplaying Leshak's violent behavior.

I'm honestly kinda of surprised(and pissed) at how much they've changed the tone of the manhwa in comparison to the novel, like I get wanting to maybe appeal to a wider audience but other novel adaptations that have violence and rape in them that I've read have had no issues just sticking exactly to how the novel is written, including all the uncomfortable and disgusting things a character has done. I liked the novel cuz they made Leshak more accountable for his actions. ( ̄へ ̄)

Him going from desperately struggling to escape the fountain with a broken ankle, while simultaneously almost drowning and wrestling with Leshak. All while frantically trying not to look at him, only to make a split second mistake and make eye contact via water which results in him becoming hysterical because he thinks he just k*lled him.

To them changing it to Radan slipping on a leaf and falling in ankle deep water and immediately making eye contact has to be a literary crime. :'(

Like the drastic tone difference between the 2 is insane

EXACTLY omg, like I don't feel the same intense grueling feelings I had while reading the novel. It definitely feels like a crime to take that away from readers especially for those of us that actually did read the novel, the manhwa feels almost disappointing at it's lack of details Σ(っ°Д °;)っ

This is exactly how I feel. Like this is one of the FEW stories that call the male lead out and condemn r*pe and acknowledge it as an act of violence. But, now I feel like they are following the path of other Manhwas and claim because it was 'less violent,' it's not that bad... (which is some BS r*pist apologist crap). Like the novel made it clear that Leshak was evil, violent and the bad guy in those chapters with no room to misinterpret or misunderstand.

This is why I like to read the novels if there is one , the way it changed on this part , kills the whole point of Leshak actually understanding that Radan doesn't want to harm him and then be accountable and regret for his actions.

The manhwa doesn't do a good enough job at conveying Radan's desperation and often makes him feel more weak than desperate. However, I felt like the Manhwa did do a better job at building chemistry with the 2nd lead because personally I felt like in the novel it's obvious Radan doesn't have feelings for him and he's kind of just there to progress the plot.
