literally this is borderline hard to read, dont understand how people are disliking this comment when youre pointing out the obvious. nothing about this is natural at all and the author is just trying to sweep jks misdeeds under the rug thinking the audience will go along with it. and turns out the author is right, considering majority of this comment section is brain dead. he STILL hasnt given a proper apology despite "reflecting" on his actions, and hes putting zero effort into actually helping dan get better, just pushing this cringeworthy narrative. doc dan is a depressed, suicidal, malnourished recovering alcoholic and nervous wreck, being forced to spend time with his rapist and abuser (who he is still scared of) and jks here bringing him to an amusement park talking about how fun its gonna be. im honestly so so SO sick of him. if the author is planning on making a fool of jk then fine, whatever. i honestly dont want to see any progress of their "relationship," just themselves as individuals, but i seriously doubt thats where this is ever going to go. it feels like the author is going to try and push the "they can only lean on each other to heal" when jk is the one who broke dan in the first place.
i will say this politely, but it is genuinely concerning how you dont see this as rape. go back and read the very first time they had sex, chapters 2-3 — moments before, jk beat the guy he was sleeping with, then propositioned doc dan to get in bed with him. hes already created a hostile environment, and then coerced dan into agreeing. after he agreed, dan revoked his consent and said he didnt want to do it anymore, only for jk to THREATEN him and say that if he leaves now, "don't expect to get home safe and sound."...he threatened to physically assault dan, like the guy who had just left, if dan didnt have sex with him. that is rape.
then, chapters 7-8. they are in a public space, jk throws him into the showers, the entire time Dan is yelling at him to stop. dan even punches him telling him he doesnt want to, and the only reason he stops resisting is because hes afraid of jk getting angry at him. once again, this shouldnt have to be said, but coercion is not consent. if you have to coerce someone to get their consent, that is not consent.
chapter 12. jk brings in a toy, and dan is clearly TERRIFIED at the thought of using it. he tries to tell him no, then jk covers his mouth and tells him hes not supposed to act up today. dan also says that he hates it, and jk brushes it off as him playing hard to get. again, coercion, and also ignoring dans wants. this is rape.
chapter 18. i have nothing to say about this one or the last since its not explicitly violent nor is dan screaming in protest (at this point, hes given up protesting because the man hes "sleeping with" is a violent monster), but dan verbatim describes having to be with jk as "torment." he doesnt want to be with him.
chapter 20. I think this chapter is very important because it reflects imo very realistically the shame victims feel if their rapist makes them cum. "They enjoyed it" is so often a phrase rapist and defenders use to dismiss and humiliate the victims circumstance. Dan is clearly horrified at the sight of himself getting hard and compares himself to the doctor that molested him and the gang members that tried to assault him, saying hes no better. he is disgusted and ashamed of himself for having a reaction to sexual stimulation that he could not control.
anyway, thanks for coming to my tedtalk. special mentions:
chapter 34. admittedly, the sex scenes began to get better, but this is. one of the WORST things jk ever did to Dan. hands down.
chapter 38-39. drugged sex. jk didnt know he was drugged, so wtv.
at what point was this ever advertised as "dark romance"? also, its not dark romance. this man is literally just a bully. and a rapist. funny you say "its dark romance, what did you expect?" and immediately follow up with "these bitches are crazy calling him a rapist" ....so first you say rape is expected, and then turn around and say that he didnt rape him? which one is it?

This doesn't even qualify as bad
This look like a freaking parody, that's how awful it is lmfao.
The top is overly cringe and looks like a mockery, idk how the restarted writing this """story"""" can even think that this was a good idea in the first place
