It’s actually disturbing how awful he is, and I actually love the author’s work outside of the one couple where the ML was a reformed virgin Sexual Assaulter themselves paired up with promiscuous self harming bottom who I didn’t exactly love but at least had depth. This is just standard omegaverse slop and it’s just disappointing

I’ve actually never read any of the others’ work, but due to this one’s high rating I had higher expectations, ripp. I’m also glad to see someone agree with me, bc while i didnt expect this story to flop bc the artstyle is good and the plot could be interesting to a lot of ppl, i personally was surprised by how little ppl are discussing whether or not ML’s character is controversial, much less that it IS controversial (esp given how quickly ppl like to stand on righteousness or morality). like i get that this ML is catered specifically to an audience that loves rlly obsessive characters, but youd expect more ppl who dont like this personality to jump in with a more objective view of ML, like usually on this site there’s always a balance of that in the comments, alongside a party of ppl who love the character but acknowledge that it’s their demented personality that makes the story work so well. last time i checked, this comment section was OVERWHELMINGLY positive about ML’s personality, which shocked me. and i get stories are made for entertainment and not everything is going to have social commentary or give a social view of how fucked up this is from the story setting itself, but it’s like if ure gonna use a social setting like the omegaverse which replicates aspects of real-life’s patriarchal and sexist societies, i think it’s only fair for ppl to therefore use real-life social hierarchies and views to judge them, esp if youre gonna give us an alpha male who treats the other gender like an objectified toy who needs their protection and doesnt know better. i also feel like this story is gonna piss me off bc of how it seems like it’s gonna purely romanticize ML’s personality, with the only person who has the whole story of his deeds being the MC, which will probably lead to every other character supporting the ML and viewing MC’s attitude as unreasonable or even assholey. now ik im judging it early on and i have no way to say if that’s how the story will go, but going off of how the scenes are set up and how MC gives in to ML even after learning what the hell he’s done, it just feels like it’s doomed. . It’s one thing if the author clearly depicts these scenes with more discomfort and turmoil, but it doesnt, which tells me that a psychological narrative or character reflection with ACTUAL consequences or condemnation of the ML was never an intended goal (and ik some ppl will say MC’s obvious anger and hatred is showing those things, but as an author/artist if you really wanted to display psychological unrest, c’mon you’d KNOW and not assume if they really wanted that narrative. like good writing and storytelling are depicted through these mediums, so either they’re a shit storyteller or they aren’t aiming for that message, and if this is an author with many other works as you’ve said, then they know whay theyre doing lol). sorry for the long rant, i just got a lot of thoughts about this manhwa
