i feel like the thing of note here isnt about deciding that mr kang is fetishy, but that his actions and dating history can appear as such to dallae rn.

fetishizing is often about having an attraction to a minority group youre not part of. The bad part about it is that it usually implies sexualising something about the minority group that feels gross to the ppl in it. You can kinda see it when Kang googles about sex with beastmen early in the story. Beastmen are mistreated for being seen as brutish and scary, but some people like those online posts also sexualise their bodies.

Sure, being into a minority for those things is a type ig, but it's generally gross and implicitly sexual, often playing into stereotypes about the group. Minorities often just don't like assumptions made by ppl that fetishize them, like how trans women don't like the assumption they'll top and bisexuals dont like being seen as promiscuous.

Again, the point isn't that mr kang is a chaser, but we only know that bc we see most of the story from his perspective. Dallae has been struggling to be seen by mr Kang for so long, just to find out mr Kang might only see him as an object of sexual desire

I think it all comes down to reasoning. Do you just happen to be attracted to this group or are you actively chasing after this group with a certain idea in mind (usually based on negative stereotypes)?

For example, I tend to have an affinity for Asians. Not to say I’m not attracted to other racial groups, but if you were to put a bunch of people in a room who were the exact same in every single aspect except for racially, I would be more attracted to the Asian person, and that’s just how I’ve been since I was in like preschool, lol. Doesn’t matter if they’re eastern, southeastern, central, western, etc. For some reason this specific racial category is slightly more attractive to me.

But there are other people who actively chase after, for example Eastern Asians, because they have an idea in their head that Eastern Asians are more meek and submissive and they have a fetishistic idea of being an alpha male with a submissive immigrant wife that they can mold into acting however they want. That, would be fetishizing.

To relate this to the story: from Dallae’s perspective it looks like Mr. Kang might be actively chasing hybrids based on the notion that they have a bigger…package. Or he just has a fetish for Beastmen and sees them as sexual objects rather than people.

But we as the audience already know that Mr. Kang probably either has a type or had his heart broken by a beastman and is trying to recreate that relationship. We know from being in his head he doesn’t view Dallae in a negative or stereotypical light, so he’s not a fetishizer. But of course Dallae doesn’t know that, and it looks bad whenever you have someone from a majority group conveniently only having sex with members of a minority group without any context, lol

ahh i think i get it, so as readers since we know Kang's perspective there's no reason to hate him over this right? like yeah i see how it can appear like that now but it's obvious to us he's not a chaser
