So in the first manwha, the small blonde one mom left him not at birth, but at a young age he could still remember it. She left because his father was abusive and even when he grew up she never really contacted him or looked for him. Also the trauma ofc of him growing up with his abusive father and how he would mention his mother in a negative way could also be why he feels so deep about it

awww pls read the og they’re the cutest (doyun is a total rock star), but basically she met someone new and didn’t want them to know she had a child so she abandoned Hyesung with his abusive father. There’s even this one flashback of his father mentioning how much he looks like his mother and creepily saying “are you sure you’re an Alpha?”. But Its not really only about what she did that people are mad about it’s also about how this was handled (them in contact with his mom) it was kind of skipped over and handled “comically”, plus the fact that they kept in contact with her when hyesung didn’t want anything to do with her is insane poor hyesung. it’s sad how doyun kept contact with her too since he himself saw how much it broke hyesung when he saw his mother again. I mean how would u feel if you find out that ur husband and son are secretly in contact with ur mother who caused you trauma and pain and whom u never wanted to see again. But we have to remember this is byuls story so ofc it was kind of just skimped through.

also if his father were to knew that he was an omega isntead of alpha he wouldve long sold his son into pr- (illegal stuff) for money , since he was after all an abusive man who hated omegas . So the author just glossing over the trauma just for Byul to kiss his crush is soooo ugh awfully handled . But ofc its Byuls story now ..so sadly all Heesung's trauma will just be used to get the new couple going more liwvly and stuff.. Also Dojin (Byuls dad and Heesungs partenr) literally r.p.d Heesung and forcedully bonded him , his parents dislike Heesung ,so he ,Heesung,kind of literally has no one on his side. Dojin is the author fav character, he is a literal villain i swear , poor Heesung can never leave him or else he would literally die because of the bond. But Byul will never understand that . Heesung deserved and deserves better but sadly taht will never happen. He might love Dojin now but he quite literally got r.p.d , forcefully got bonded while at it too , forced to give birth , all while after literally finishing high achool he just became of age and not even 2 years later bad luck followed him eberywhere . Its so so so tragic no wonder the story is called Love is an illusion it is unfortunately a literal illusion. , one that Heesung is forcing himslef to belive its reality at the end of the day tehres nothing he can really do :(

Hyesung's dad pretty much hit and iterall pimped out his mom to his business associates, when she met new alpha while still married, she left Hyesung promising him she'll be back for him, but she only came back to divorce dad and "believed" the dad who said Hyesung doesn't want to meet mom (more like it was convenient for her, because she admited she wanted new start with new alpha who didn't know about Hyesung). She left her child with a man who, if only he knew Hyesung was an omega, would happilly pimp him out too. Dad also had new family and abused Hyesung by not meeting his needs and ignoring him, maybe more.

Later when Hyesung is outed as rather famous Dojin's spouse, she comes back to meet Hyesung and accuses him of being as bad as her of not keeping in contact because Hyesung (20 at the tine, who ran away from abusive home at 16, I think?) Also didn't actively look for her.

It's quite frankly understandable why Hyesung is no contact with either parent.

Her new family dropped her the moment they learned about her first child (and likely how she ignored said child) and somehow Dojin had brilliant idea to go behind his spouse's back and not only keep in contact with the grandma but also buying her a house and keeping with all her bills.

I think majority of uproar is on the western side, because as far as I read, the Koreans comment mostly how despite grandma being despicable mother, she does deserve to love their grandchildren.

And IMO, people wouldn't be as pissed , if the reconciliation was dealt with good writing, instead it comes across as callous and in the vein of "so what you have trauma from that woman, shut up, we know better".

There won't be Dojin redemption arc as he’s the author's fave and can't do anything bad... I'm serious here, Dojin was a piece of shit from the beginning (including using Hyesung when he wasn't all there, and maybe not actively impregnating him, because Byul was an oopsie, but defo pregnancy traping Hyesung to stay with him). Dojin is and behaves like extremely spoiled, egoistic youngest child of well off - and rather healthy, influential family and I really want to know if author knows how to write these kind of character and can't explore them as bad due to reader's expectations or just is extremely prone to birthing characters that are way more complicated that even the author can understand

Anyway, there used to be an interesting story about power imbalance and trauma, but weeee boys kissed dayum mindset won.
