If I read it right, goreoum or whatever his name is (the guy that was with minchan and who minchan considers family) is actually bihwans brother and was alive with seolhu. It was the three of them (bihwan, seolhu, and goreum).
After all the flashbacks he showed bihwan a scene where minchan got into a car accident as a kid and told bihwan that he put a piece of seolhus broken soul into him in order for him to grow up and become a host body for him. He told bihwan he was going to have to choose when the time comes because bihwan was not happy about it and was like “but what about minchan? He thinks you’re his family” and he asked what would happen if seolhu takes over the body and goreum tells him minchan will cease to exist or smth like that.
So he will have to choose between minchan and seolhu when the time comes. We see him pull minchans soul out and that there is a cracked piece which is likely seolhus soul fragment, and minchan wakes up to him crying. That’s what makes me think he was just confirming it because I don’t think he would want to disconnect himself from minchan/seolhu (basically whoever gets the body) because he is in love/very attached to it. Like he would want them to die together if something happened.
