You’re completely valid in that reasoning. It’s an unfortunate trope that does make me uncomfortable at times especially when the only poc is the shitty ML. I do remember dropping one manhwa before because of how much it pissed me off. I don’t remember the name but the premise was the FL using makeup to disguise herself as ugly and part of how she did that was making herself darker skinned. I immediately dropped it after I saw that. I can only hope authors get better at handling poc characters.

Meh this might be woke but I hate the "fair skinned and fragile uke gets treated like trash by the big scary DARK SKINNED seme trope"...this happens alot in straight manhwas too and makes me feel so uncomfortable as a melanated person myself.
