Can't agree with you. To some extent you're right. Otherwise not. Children are the future of the society. How you treat them make their future, their mind set and all. And mentally unstable kids need it more than anyone else. I believe beside sam- myong others should have helped the kid. All the others around chang- gyong decided to take his childhood. The king could have send it someone else if he didn't like him. It's not like his mother was there to judge the king. To someone who could've taken better care of the boy. But no that's not what happened. Once the kid saw the only ray of hope in sam-myong he didn't wanna losse hum. That's how things work with abused children. They need the help more than anyone. If a parent can't brought up their child properly they should not even bring them to earth for their own gains/ fault instead of making their rest of the life hell.
Note that he was getting cured he just needed to see people kind to him aside from sam- myong. But no-one bothered to show that kindness. Even a tree can't grow properly in a harsh environment and he was just a kid.
I'm not going to support how the character turned out later on but well that's how mentally unstable psychos are born.
Sorry but I don’t really get where we disagree lol. All I’m saying is that this isn’t really either their faults, although both of them made many questionable decisions specifically Samyeong who was older and more experienced. He could have done things differently but there were also limitations given the external forces at play. I’m saying that WE SHOULD HELP ABUSED CHILDREN but in the world we live in now, there are better ways to do it that don’t involve forming a codependent relationship. There was more limitation for Samyeong since he lived in a cruel world that almost presented no alternative.

I think when they were children, he saw Geon as a puppy. Like you just want to be their whole world and such. But human beings are complex and respond differently. I’m not saying that Hyungnim deserves what’s coming for him but he also could not react and raise Geon properly because of the circumstances. Everyone is saying that this story teaches us to not help abused kids let’s be fucking for real. Samyeong couldn’t help Geon properly because of the royal family and it’s not like he actually wanted to leave and get married, it was a command from the KING which would mean treason to disobey. It was already stated that he was only allowed to take care of Geon because the eldest prince was fond of him.
In the real world, there are measures in place to deal with emotionally and physically abused children that does not have to lead to more psychological trauma for both the victim and the helper of the situation. If anything, this is a lesson on how imperial politics turned two perfectly normal boys who could have had a perfectly healthy dynamic into something twisted because of their cruelty. There is a reason why most of the world has abandoned that system because it gives birth to more tragic stories like this.
