It’s pretty common in Chinese manhua, Korean manhwa, and Japanese manga to throw shade to each other’s culture. There’s so much historical tension and prejudice against each other it tends to show up in their works too.
You'd be suprised but pretty much all of asia hates one another (except SEA, they like other SEA countries but not other Asian countries) it's kinda like a superiority thing, which kinda has to do with their urban development. China and Korea hate one another but they both hate Japan even more, because of what imperial Japan did to them

SEA definitely has this thing that we can shade other SEA countries but once someone not from here does we all stop the infighting and stand beside the other
a few weeks ago on twitter there was this japanese guy who talked shit about trash and was being racist towards indonesians and another korean guy was racist towards SEA for eating with our hands. All of SEA ganged up on them till the jp guy deleted his account. that kr guy's post is still up on twitter though.
Only SEA is allowed to trash talk each other.

This is definitely true 100% .. I'm from SEA ..tbh I don't really like much my neighbouring SEA countries, but if other part of Asia talk shit about them , I would surely become a keyboard warrior to defend them ..no hesitation whatsoever only we can talk shit of each other since we know each other dark side very well ..other Asia are not worthy to judge us since we only dislike each other and bickering..not to the point of bloody feud and deep hatred with each other
I just realized you're right, my SEA friends told me that SEA countries are like siblings they definitely bicker and talk trash to one another but when someone else trashes one of them they all pitch in to fight back
