The same way yaoi has started normalizing marriage, it has to start normalizing adopting kids. Like, it's okay, you took super good care of the kid while the parent was absent because shit happens but make the kid and the parent have a relationship, to love each other very much, to want to be together... Tjen send them off, mourn their absence, and id you still want a family go and adopt your own kid with the person you love.
