I didn't read the novel but here's what I found out:
- Genas will be free from the empress and will end up with a MALE KNIGHT! Yup, dude was so traumatized he changed his sexuality. - The empress will have a lower status as I remember and here is the WEIRD PART! Y'all the red hair child will be the empress and then she will be interested with the empress, and just like what the empress did to Genas, she will be treated the same by his niece. - Anyway, yes. The empress loved Genas and regretted her actions but it's too late.
Tbh, I was kinda disappointed with this since I want them to end up together (controversial take, I know). If only the empress didn't SA Genas, I think she would be a redeemable character.
