it's actually school setting but in westernized style (prolly place/time setting in US) so it adds up if it's look like that. but those dialogues fits korean's education system and commonly used for a natural tone as well. in korea they have something like department/focus area like art school, sport school and such. it's just a natural term for their education system tho but the settings is definitely the US-style school (in later chapter it also says that both of them just turned adult, 18-19) ^^
