And pretty wholesome. But like—still can’t get over the fact that bro’ saw the kid grow. Basically raised the kid and all. And now they’re romancing? Like mhhhh

But for the most part wasn't he raised by his mother and aunt so by the time he lived with elva (who was also a child) he knew how to take care of himself? Like cook and clean. For me it makes it better cuz there was this other bl where it was a vampire KID that got adopted by a MAN and in the end the father and kid got together when the kid became an adult. Even tho it was pseudo incest I still couldn't read it, it was too much!!! Too gross!!

But he KNEW him since he was a kid. Interacted with him and all Like bro, getting together after hanging with him when he was a kid is just…questionable. The other one is even worse—I remember reading one with a Yakuza guy and a little toddler he found. In canon he is literally raising him—but there’s non-canon side chapters where the author ( after the Yakuza guy raised him as a toddler to grown up ) ships them and has the ex-toddler pin after the Yakuza guy What’s with the authors these days?

While this is technically true and I would definitely agree in other contexts like the one the commenter mentioned above, ever since Elva became a kannagi as a very young child, his circumstances completely deprived him of the social aspect of aging. From what I understand and see, he didn't really mature or even age in any way until he met Alto, and even then it was very slow. So although he is chronologically ten years(?) Older, he is also very much still mentally and physically like. 17. He comes off as "mature" and "seasoned" but thats because he kind of had to be to stay alive and protect the island, not because he properly aged. So for me, its not that big of a deal. I found it weird at first but as I continued reading and the lore behind the Kannagi and Elva himself kept being shown, it really shows me more and more that Elva is in no position to have any power over Alto other than being a Kannagi; in a way, he's also like. A teenager still. Even if he's technically been alive longer.

Also he didnt really raise Alto, tbh I see it more as they grew up "together" in a way. Alto is comparatively a lot more immature but again, I think thats due to the social/environmental aspect. Alto was socialized his entire life and aged normally too. Id even argue because of this that Alto is more emotionally mature than Elva but I digress, just my opinion

Eh, I kind of get it. And I respect your option. But I don’t think mine will be changing. Like—this is a trope that’s being normalized now and it’s kind of ‘oof’ for me. Tbh, I did give this manga a chance and I did like it in regards to the lore of Kannagi—but that part is still something I can’t get over it without shutting my brain off for it.

But hey! Not judging y’all, just the trope since I’ve seen it multiple times now. I still think it’s also wholesome but like—if the start just wasn’t like that—yeah.

I respect that! Everyone has their own feelings about certain things and for sure I have seen similar tropes being normalized and I am not a fan so I get it 100%
