In truth, Grayson isn't evil... but he's not a normal person. He has alexithymia—meaning he can't understand his own emotions or those of others. Everything he did for Chase, in his mind, was to help him release pheromones, not to go insane. However distorted his mind may be, he's the only one who cares about Chase.

If you're not a normal person, what seems repulsive to us seems normal in the mind of a madman. You'll understand Grayson better by reading "Desire Me If You Can." There, it's explicitly stated that Grayson doesn't understand his own emotions or those of other people. This only begins to change when he meets Dane.

You are applying real-world logic to a highly dangerous omegarverse world for dominant alphas and omegas. In Zig's world, alphas MUST release pheromones, otherwise they may lose part of their brain and go mad. That's why there are pheromone parties, so that alphas can release them through sex or experimental injections (as in Chase's case). At these parties, sex with strangers, group sex, and even sex with animals is normalized (I'm not saying I agree with it, but that's how the story goes). Most dominant alphas tend to be a little crazy and don't understand other people. The Miller family is almost entirely like this. The exception is Chase, who was born normal, but due to family trauma and not wanting to release pheromones naturally, he became aggressive. Chase is becoming more docile precisely because he is now releasing pheromones naturally (that is, through sex with an omega, although he still doesn't know Josh's true nature). At the opposite extreme from Chase is Grayson, who was born manifest and, because he has been unable to release pheromones since childhood, has several “loose screws” in his head. Grayson believes he is helping Chase not to go crazy because he fears Chase's brain will melt, since Chase hates promiscuity, hates being a dominant alpha, and doesn't want to go to pheromone parties. Grayson lied that Chase had sex with his dog because that was the only way Grayson could get Chase to go to pheromone parties.
Is it right? No, but you have to admit that in this extremely dangerous universe for dominants, where their brains can be destroyed without the release of pheromones, bestiality and other sexual practices that are atrocious (to us) are normalized in alpha society, the actions of the mad Grayson make sense in his mind. This is the great drama of Zig's omegarverses: alphas have to fight to keep their brains and, who knows, acquire some humanity and sanity.
