Grayson's way of helping is problematic. Grayson's desire to help is genuine (he actually cares about Chase), the problem is that he has problems understanding emotions and his logic is "a bit different" (he was manifested when he was born, so potentially crazier than other DA), so the methods he comes up with to achieve helping someone can be damaging like you see with Chase. And he is not even aware of it. He sees the result, and is offended when they complain.
So he caused trauma on Chase, but it was unintentional. Does it make it better for Chase? -no, certainly not, but he is not enjoying tormenting Chase like this as many in the comments think.
You see that Grayson always smiles? Those smiles are fake, he was taught when to smile etc. Grayson is not emotionless, but he doesn't understand them, can't recognize them in himself. He is just good in reading people, because he was trained to do so.
If you read his novel, you sometimes see him do things that are strange for someone "normal". You'd think is he crazy/insane? But you get an explanation for his behaviour.

Okay people in the comments being oh no Grayson was misunderstood can u make me understand like how Tf is that helping
