call me crazy but if my partner suddenly told me out of the blue that they dated me at first for inspiration for their own writing I wouldn’t be all that offended but rather take it as a huge compliment and want to see what they’re writing in the first place and maybe give proper feedback and what not to support them as partners in a healthy happy relationship always should, y’know?
if it was something actually offensive and crude in terms of writing okay then I can understand being pissed and wanting to break things off but technically dohu didn’t even ever finish his writing correct? so juheon technically had no idea what dohu was even writing about in the first place nor did he even try to ask in the first place
i mean ye as an average person it wouldnt be a big deal to me either being told that, but clearly ml sees it all as being "used" and the end of the world and i dont see a scenario where being told earlier would make ml react any better, exactly the way mc thought. And mc knew ml thinks that way so even more he wouldn't ever wanna tell that to him, cause he didn't even end up "using" him and now theyre in a good relationship.
like telling ml at any earlier point that he approached for analysis, or that ml was wrong in initially thinking mc likes him, in all cases i see ml just saying "oh you made a fool out of me, i feel stupid", pulling away and leaving.. even if he immediately corrected the misunderstanding saying actually "i dont like you" that would just be the end of it...
like theres no alternative thing mc couldve done and been right, if he had immediately corrected the misunderstanding, they wouldnt ever date now, if he hadnt approached him, even for a slightly wrong reason, theyd never be dating now, if he had confessed sooner, ml would still feel wronged and leave cause clearly he was just waiting for a reason to believe mc never loved him, even now hes repeatedly confessing and protecting him and its not enough for ml. its just sad
I completely get it and fully agree with your points, and at this point dohu for his own sake both mentally and physically ‘needs’ to move on from juheon if juheon can’t even show him basic human decency and respect, as let’s be real dohu’s going to end up in an early grave at this rate with how he clearly neglects himself with the implied subtle eating disorder and what not
I’m kinda surprised juheon when he first saw dohu again after 4 whole years wasn’t immediately like woah wtf? when he saw just how drastically changed dohu physically and mentally seemed to be now even if they’re exes now
I mean, if dohu can let go of his clearly unhealthy obsession regarding juheon even for just a little while and seek proper therapy ‘then’ once he’s in a much better proper mental and physical state of mind plan his next move then decide if he still wants juheon or not, then good on him but we all know what’s going to go down, and therapy is the last current thing on dohu’s mind lmao
yee all that, AND he's dealing with ml's rudeness and repeated rejection AND now he has to deal with his bully and source of trauma being around and not being able to get away from him cause its his job, and his job is his only connection to ml, so in all fronts he's just suffering with no one to care
and also what was ml's reason for deciding to go into acting when he was repeatedly refusing before? he suddenly decided to with what i assume has something to do with mc, but then what? if you were planning to be rude and harsh to him why go into acting and accept the job at his workplace, and then go as far as try to convince him to be the one to leave his own workplace just to not work together???? all while still caring enough to order a lot of food cause he used to eat a lot and instinctually caring and consciously deciding not to do anything at hte bar etc, like i dont get his thought process
Ikr. Re-reading and having everything in context really helps to highlight the traumas and influences on both characters' actions.
To cut Juheon some slack though, yes he has trauma growing up in a family that used him. Realising that Dohu 'used' him even if pretty mildly (as inspiration for a novel) is very hurftul. I'd say Juheon's set a rule that he needs to cut off everyone to move on from the trauma of being used. The tough part for Juheon now is realising that the rule does let him move on from his family but he is also running away from Dohu (who does genuinely care about him and doesn't want to use him at all).
Juheon's very lucky that Dohu's overcome his own trauma (that a relationship would never work out) to help Juheon make that realisation. It'll take time for Dohu to chip away at Juheon's rule/defenses and I do appreciate the author and the team for letting the story take its course.
For now, I'm curious about how Juheon's gonna handle a drunk Dohu. My suspicion is he'll try to ask his manager to stay in the car and have a one-on-one conversation with Dohu that'll chip away at this rule of his.
We still haven't gotten a proper Juheon's point of view. However, basing on what we had so far, here is what I think.
The true reason why Juheon left Dohu is two folds. First is his loss of trust, not just in Dohu but also in his own judgement. Remember that they got together because Juheon mistakenly believed Dohu was in love with him. On top of this, his trauma reinforced the beliefs that people only get close him because they want to use him. He is afraid if one day he has no more use, Dohu would leave him. This is one of those case of, if you are going to leave me eventually, it would hurt less if I'm the one who is leaving instead.
The other reason likely has to do with his family blackmailing him over Dohu. Remember before he left, Juheon desparately wanted to stay with Dohu and begged Dohu to love him and not letting him go. This part would likely be revealed later that Juheon has been protecting Dohu all along. Juheon didn't tell Dohu because he believed Dohu would be fine without him.
Finally, there is implication that after Juheon left, he has been plagued with stalking problem. He at some point, dyed his hair black to avoid this. It seems that he projects this problem with Dohu since Dohu used to stalk Juheon in the past. Hence why Juheon is incredibly guarded than usual when dealing with the current Dohu. Also, he is weak to Dohu. He is afraid that he would be swayed by him, so he put on as much guard as he can. Ironically, this still doesn't stop him from worrying about Dohu. He tried so hard to convince himself he doesn't care, but he clearly still cares a lot.

on a rather minor side note, do you think juheon dyed his hair black specifically because it reminded him of dohu even if he wouldn’t ever admit that out loud? so in a way in his own mind despite being very angry and upset with him still, he atleast had a piece of dohu with him in a way even if wasn’t he physically wasn’t there?

bro i just went back to read from ch 55 and this is breaking me again, it was the incident with the bully, and dohu is thinking he doesnt think his relationship will last forever and thinks ml will leave him eventually and gets nightmares about being called unemotional and heartless etc like the bully did and it ended exactly like that and i wanna cri
and then the scene of how they broke up, read it again and bro the problem really was blown out of proportion only and ONLY cause ml has trauma cause i dont see an average person throwing away the relationship just cause there was a misunderstanding at the start of it when you have this long of a time together to weigh on your opinion.

like so what thats why he approached, he'd long abandoned the idea and was already with you cause he liked you too, would you in the middle of a mutually loving relationship tell them "oh ye btw i didnt love you at first when we'd literally JUST met, you misunderstood"? why would you when its already irrelevant and its not even a sin like confessing cheating or smth, so dohu wasnt exactly wrong in saying he didnt intend to tell him, not the most emotionally intelligent answer but not wrong, but also after the time skip its treated like he only said sorry when he shouldve said he loves him cause thats what ml wanted to hear but he DID tell him he loves him back then..... literally when hes confronted he tells him right here and now i like you, and ml is like "why should i believe you, you only say it when i ask" LIKE OK HES AUTISTIC BITCH he wasnt even interested in relationships before you and here he is liking you, saying ily here and there unprompted isnt his natural state and you know it, and youre holding it against him in this moment as if it means he doesnt love you when he says he does??? and in the end him saying if you ever loved me at all let me go and dohu taking it literally cause of fucking course he would???????? like why would you tell this autistic dude to let you go if he loves you then get pikachu face when he does, if you wanted him to cling to you???
