Yea they're not just letting lust take over, they are falling into it. On purpose. It is their security net because they rather do that than talk things out properly.
Sex is their way of showing vulnerability because they're too emotionally constipated to say things out loud so they just hope their bodies can deliver their feelings without having to say things.....not a permanent solution but I hope the author has them have a proper conversation SOON I beg
