And i understand dohu's unique circumstances and difficulty in understanding emotions in general, but i feel like it's hypocritical to blame juheon for not understanding dohu's feelings when dohu himself admitted to being unable to do so, always feeling confused, dohu knows that he did the wrong thing when talking to juheon, and that's why hese trying to make up for it, so dismissing his efforts is like denying any growth he might have had, which is the entire point of his character development, i think people are used to shitty top characters so that's why everyone is trying to lump juheon with them when he is one of the greenest flags out there.
The problem with juheon isnt that he doesnt understand dohus feelings, the problem is that he left without ever trying to understand. Dont get me wrong, i dont think that juheon is wrong for that but its not unexpected that people are going to dislike certain actions from characters when said actions are portrayed as negative. Juheon wasn't even planning on leaving, he told his grandfather clearly that he doesn't want to go abroad to study, so saying that he CHOSE to leave is completely false, and saying that juheon didn't try as hard in the relationship as dohu are you sure we read the same story? he's the one who stood up for him against his bully, he's the one who took care of him/cooked for him/planned their dates and always said i like you first, bro what are you on about
Getting "probably" threatened by the aunt/mother still doesn't justify instantly disappearing with no contact, this isn't some fantasy world where the antagonist can chant spells and prevent juheon from actively communicating, going afar to protect the people he supposedly love is one thing, doing so without communicating what was actually happening IS A CHOICE. Welcome to the modern world where it is quite literally impossible to 1000% prevent a capable adult from doing what they pleases.
Also the initiatives you mentioned are all just literally things people do when they're in a relationship/ interested in someone/ just wanna be a decent friend??? What actually weigh more in a relationship? Planning dates and making dinners or actually talking and actively working things out with your partner when shit hits the fan? Cus one of these things are actually CRUCIAL , foundational things in a relationship and the others are just actions to show affection. Showing affections thru doesn't build the foundation to a relationship. Communication does.

Uh yeah, i think it does justify it when you find out the one person you thought genuinely saw you for who you are had actually approached you for ulterior motives and didn't even feel need to explain their actions or apologize or see that they did something wrong at all, sure the disappearing act was a dick move and it was a choice, but so was knowing you were doing something wrong and deciding it's best not to tell your partner just because ut was easier, dohu knew that using juheon as a reference wasn't a good idea, because everyone around him kept saying so, knowing that, he still never even thought about coming clean to him about the misunderstanding.
And it's pretty funny that you're saying communication is the thing that builds a foundation for a good relationship when that's where dohu failed at most, juheon was honest from the beginning, hus dislike was obvious, and his affection as well, the fact that he was willing to listen to dohu after he found out about the file shows that he was open to the idea of talking it through, it's dohu's lack of understanding of basic emotions that ruined that opportunity, but again, and that's fine, a character is allowed to have flaws, that's what's so good about this story, the characters are realistic and relatable, but y'all are treating juheon as if he's this irredeemable asshole as if he isn't allowed to have flaws and make mistakes as well.

After rereading the story i feel like everyone is missing the point, people keep saying that juheon is acting like an ass and should be the one doing the chasing not the other way around, i advise you to read the last chapters of season one, juheon wasn't even that mad about dohu using him as a reference, what really set him off was the fact that dohu admitted that he was planning on keeping it a secret because it made things easier on them and wouldn't admit to his fault or apologize even after meeting him again, dohu realizes how much effort juheon was putting into the relationship when dohu was taking it easy.
