I really love this story. This would’ve easily been one of my favorites…. Except for Eclis. See, you’d think the issue is that Eclis is a terrible person who betrays Penelope and tries to kill Callisto, right? No. It’s because he’s essentially an enslaved prince, toyed with by both Penelope and Yvonne. If anything, he’s the real victim.

I wouldn’t care for him if it weren’t for the otome route where he’s proven to be good and becomes an actual knight to Yvonne. But because of Penelope’s actions and later Yvonne, he becomes a tragic villain. Don’t get me wrong, his actions are awful. But when you’re a puppet on both the good side and evil side? Bro, I’d crash out. I feel so freaking bad for him and he’ll be the only who doesn’t get a good ending which he SHOULD deserve.

Penelope seriously sucks for involving him just because she wanted to manipulate an ML to escape the game early.

I understand. Eclis' situations is just too pitiful. When I read this before, I was thinking that he's the villain. The HE betrayed Penelope. But re-reading it made me realized that he, in fact, is the victim. and the one who got betrayed first. He's only what? 17 yearss old? But his kingdom got destroyed, he became a slave, and was bought like a piece of animal. Additionally, the master he has is just using him for her satisfaction, and he knew it but let it be. Even came to love her, but sadly in twisted kind of way. I hated Penelope for that. I legit cried at the prison scene where Penelope threw the ring on the gutter and Eclis desperately looking for it so as not to destroy any connection he has with Penelope, even if it's only a master/slave relationship

He's just a boy. And replying this made ME realized I shouldn't hate him. We should blame his situation instead that made him like this. Aghhhh why does it have to be so hard. I really really hope we get a side story showing him living his life freely. I hope he just forget all of this, Penelope and everything. There's magic anyway, if there's a magic that can brainwash, then there should be one that will erase all his memories. He already suffered too much. Banish him to another country with a lot of money and make him live a new and peaceful life, without all this messy chaos. I know it's not the correct solution, but it's better than him dying while sufferring too much. He deserves so much better than this.

REAL TALK

Honestly… like when you really think about it, what’s there to hate about Eclis? Makes me mad that Penelope tries to apologize but it’s already too late. The damage has been done. I’m glad we could realize Eclis is a victim and deserves better (even if he’s not guilty free).
