The thing about presenting as an omega because of the continued exposure to alpha pheromones I can understand. They were little kids, not knowing that could happen. It was not the alpha's fault then even if he presented first. But the alpha choose to scenting him to 'help him' but also to make the omega dependable of him without his consent and knowing how visceral the omega felt about that whole thing. This omega vocalize everything he feels so he doesn't lack communication. Alpha in the other hand, even if he didn't wanted to at first, he took away his choices.

I don't believe the alpha is classic toxic tho. Unless author prepares a big and dramatic twist that explains why the alpha is like that and why he acted the way he did, he deserves to be treated coldly and 'help' the omega without expecting more of him.
