If all pretences are uncovered, this troupe of forcing the MC into a caregiver position for the ML is rooted in grooming. Making the perfect virgin love interest for the reader, an ML who has only learned attraction through the MC by making him the only object of his lust/love. The focus is watching characters grow into who they become later so jumping straight to calling it creepy before anything even happens is pure overreaction.
