I think the author put that scene just to give light about something what most people would think (and probably do) if they have encountered something like Mi-Ok did and they’re not used to it or expected something more to that person. I also think that Mi-Ok experienced the same thing as Haebeom (like Mi-Ok could be a lesbian or bi) that’s why she’s curious about why they’re like that coz its new to her. But I do agree on why did Mi-Ok have to interfere with their relationship.
