mannn fuck. this is gonna be way less involved than my last write up but tldr: according to my deductions, A wanted to fuck fluffy, experimented til he found a way to turn fluffy partially human, then a virus evolved in fluffy that forced humans to mutate too. that virus spreads, the center takes over and abuses people, and mr A - weighed down by guilt - opens his farm up to host folx who are kidnapped then rejected by the HLP program.

backstory: they say A was the brains behind the HLP, but he just doesnt seem the type. he does seem the type to try some freaky shit on a farm far away from prying eyes tho… now, im going on on a limb here but stay with me. i think the thing little A saw when he was a kid that got him kicked off the farm was probably something related to A’s kink for fluffy or his experiments. mr A is probably a lil socially awkward like little A and had been holed up on the farm for such a long time that he wanted to shag some of the animals, namely fluffy who he was probably emotionally closest to. he may not have felt too much shame or guilt about his kink until he was caught by his nephew and exposed to his sibling’s family. then he figured no one would ever know what he was up to up the mountain if he didnt have people over as much, so no more farm visits for little A lol

i kinda doubt he was an evil mastermind for the HLP fr though. i feel like he had personal pursuits, worked towards it and made a once in a lifetime discovery, then it grew bigger than he could handle, probably after the virus spread to one of his farmhands or something and he went looking for help. his “work” and the subsequent ‘beast virus’ is then discovered and co-opted by the center, then they create the HLP as an impetus to kidnap ppl and force them into dehumanizing labor, scrutiny, and sometimes death. and at the end of it all, mr A is lauded in-house as the Human Livestock Project’s great inventor

mr A felt like shit about this all and decides to “take responsibility for the consequences” by opening his farm as a haven for people who were going to be murked bc of what was supposed to be his harmless mountain kink research. the farm doesn’t make him feel better though, and every time he talks with the new farm staff he feels worse and worse. thats why when he talks to milton he’s like “im sorry this is whats become of you”, and probably why he actually starts working with the center (since his original plan was to have to them be completely uninvolved on his farm) - he was trying to find a way to help the people on his farm deal with what he perceives to be bodily inconveniences/harm he forced upon them through the pursuit of his kink. milton and kendrick of course internalize his attitude as rejection of their animal traits which makes a weird vibe between them all. but i doubt its cuz A views them as less than human or gross, he’s probably just a bad communicator and bound up in guilt.

i think it all comes to a head for him when he himself starts developing animal traits too. oh, the irony! now he’s become a dog-human too just like fluffy. maybe even just like he wanted! but unfortunately everyone else has been suffering bc of it. he either runs away thinking that if the center discovers his traits theyll seize the farm and abuse everyone even more, or the center found out and sent him away to seize power in his absence. i personally think that when G told fluffy ‘he controls when A comes back’ it was a lie tho, i feel like he just said that to keep fluffy under control and is trying to take advantage of A not being there.

with that being said, this hairbrained theory hinges upon how badly mr A has been trying fuck his dog so take it with more that a few grains of salt. BUT theres enough textual evidence to support my theory that ill stand beside it
