Richard is such a lovable ass. He loves her so much but he’s not used to dealing with someone like Courtney on an emotional level so he doesn’t know how to comfort her nd understand her moods other than sex. He’s constantly been in a position of power and no matter what fucked up thing he does that privilege remains. So at his core he finds it absurd that someone as amazing as Courtney is this distressed over all of this without looking super deeply in her back story and tries to enable what she thinks are bad traits abt herself
