bruh, if you're in his position and have the same personality who wanna be good in other people's eyes, but a freakin alien keeps making your sense of reason in shambles you'd do the same. you think like that cause you're seeing it in third person, not gonna blame you on that. and at the end you can see that the alien guy is from his dream, ofcourse it will never make sense cause the story is portraying that it's like a dream or he is seeing his dream in real life that doesn't make any sense.
No I understand that he's going crazy, it's that they keep emphasizing that he was manipulative to begin with and was able to do that to be seen better in other people's eyes. So I was really hoping for a little more actual strategy back but he definitely got too comfortable being able to get his way easily and is super emotionally charged which is why he had the entire downfall.
I think it's also a bit of a cop out that they just take away his mentality and he never even gets smart enough to understand that he's absolutely helpless because he's dealing with something inhuman. He never gets to realize that, or deal with actually feeling crazy / insane enough.
hmm.. it's like the alien like guy actually hears what he thinks, tbh he always knows what the mc is thinking based on how he behaves, it showed that when the mc told everyone somethings goin on he also doesn't know that the alien guy is controlling them you have a point on that, but how would the mc know? he straight up forgets about it cause the alien guy keep making him fall asleep when the mc throw tantrums and so the next day he doesn't know what it is, liek engineering his memories or maybe prolly because of the trauma he faced, by getting confused again and again and that he feels helpless to the point he doesn't know what to do, that's the flaw im also seeing tbh im also confused by how the story is written it's like im having a stroke, just like my dream confusing and doesn't make any sense liek the author is making me question what really is it what im reading, i think it's good, i love stories like this where you have to really think before even having an assumption, do you have something just like this to recommend?
That's true, the main flaw is the presentation. But the parts are all there!
Shadow's House is my top recommendation - it's not a BL just a mystery. There's a lot of characters and mysteries to each one.
Some other ones I think that kind of are the same vibe are:
- A Room Without Window -- good twists
- Akuheki -- 2 kinda crazy characters
- Bound To Be -- the setting is very unsettling but it's slow burn
- It's Just a Dream...Right?! -- Kind of more light and smut but it portrays how the MCs get swept up in dream vs real

I think what made this hard to enjoy for me is the MC, it's interesting but also annoying that he just has that much ego and pride but I seriously wish he could be a lot smarter about it. I absolutely hate when they call characters smart and then they proceed to have nothing. Like cmon, how many times do you think stabbing is just going to work, you say this character has all this charisma and they didn't even try? Absolutely frustrating. On the other hand I think of you see it as his downfall, and he was a brat, and that he just does proceed to keep going down in intelligence then sure. But at that point the plot is still all over.
