Looking at the pictures of Alex, I would believe that she's a girl or at least the parents dressed her as such.
Right now Alex might look like a guy but let's be real what kind of girl wouldn't go though a face of dressing like that ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
She's a girl but is officially registered and known as a guy under her hunter alias Alex. Now we don't know if Hwijae and the others use her official identity as a guy and adrress her as male or if it's the poor translation that mistook them referring to her as a man because they know her true gender.

Novel reader here: Alex was always referred to as son of his family and a male.
It was mentioned he likes flashy and feminine things before (and he colours his hair very often and keeps it bit longer bc thats his style) but he was still born and registered as male, so it’s likely that he is just wearing feminine clothing as kid but he’s still a boy.
