Maybe I was arguing from a place of “superiority”, I will admit that. Not morality. The op has responded to me, more than once, dismissing context. And I suppose why I got irritated in the last reply. Because readers like that piss me off, I will accept. My attitude was more of, “if you're not reading to broaden your mind, then why tf are you reading then!” Is that a condescending way of thinking? Yes it is! You're right in that.
Btw, I don't read every piece of literature. I don't read yaoi where the uke looks like a child but is grown-up. I don't read yaoi where rape is littered all over it. I don't read yaoi with psychotic semes (although this one is with exceptions; in TBMD; the seme is a literal psychopath & I've read the shit three times). I have my hard lines. And one thing I'm taking away from these conversations is that I've found a new one: since context & the appreciation of art is something I take very seriously, I will only engage in those conversations.
