Have we read the same story?
Tei has never seen Shuraka as a love interest nor have waited for him to be with him romantically. He preyed for his safety and he was afraid that he would die cause they lived three years together and of course he cherish him. But it was never portrayed as something predatory.
I don't think it's like that cuz he clearly didn't see him that way, there's nothing sexual about it. In my personal opinion, I think these kind of stories are fine as long as there are no thoughts like that when the other person is still a child and The romantic feelings only come when they are both adults
While there is an age gap, Tei had never treated Shuraka as a romantic partner in the 3 years he was there. When Tei arrived and realized he was a minor, it became more of a guardianship role to protect Shuraka from his brothers and assassination attempts. Shuraka grew fond of Tei and didnt want him to die while protecting him, so they lied about war in his homeland, sending Tei back. After he was long gone, Shuraka closed the gates to their kingdom to start the throne war. Tei only prayed over the years that Shuraka survived against his brothers and that he was safe. When Shuraka shows up what Tei feels is relief he's alive. We're now about to see Shuraka pine for Tei and this is where their romantic tale starts. Tei never "waited for him to become of age" he only waited to hear word that he survived. Shuraka is now currently 24, and Tei is 37
You’re right he didn’t literally “wait for him” but did u read the story with your eyes closed? The dynamic between the two in the beginning was already set up in a romantic way (from their expressions, actions, and dialogue) which is y it’s uncomfortable.
It’s okay for u to like the story but let’s be real. I would have to practice cognitive dissonance to read this story

Can’t do it.. it’s predatory to wait for someone to become of age in order to be with them. Despite all the context leading up to it just feels wrong
