Hmm... I do think it can be "normal" to be uncomfortable around it without being homophobic about it. It isn't a good emotion or feeling but like Jealousy or Envy - for example - it's how you handle those negative emotions that matter as they are natural human emotion. And more than discomfort it could also be that she is completely unfamiliar with this topic and wanted an easier one. She just tried to avoid it so far, so I will personally hold my judgement. :o
Fr? And university really fired the prof? Aren't the subject material already pre-approved before they are evn taught to students.
Alr u can be an asshole about diffrent topics and just not accept it but it is also on them as a student to not know what to expect in a class when they themselves signed up for it thinking it would be an easy grade.
It's not even about hatred anymore if u so hated it just do ur research and not study it. Be an asshole all ur life for all other cares.
Yup, and they even demoted the head of their English department for being the people who approved of the professor’s course material. And so even though the content was approved and aligned with the syllabus, they fired the prof.
Texas (where the university is located) is under some really republican administration right now, so things like this can happen pretty often because people want to be assholes.
You might have also heard of a similar situation in Oklahoma University where a trans prof was fired for grading a students paper as a 0 for not following the criteria. The student argued that her freedom of speech was being violated because she talked about the bible, even though the bible had nothing to do with the original assignment.
Seeing these situations in manhwa might make it seem like they don’t happen very often, especially if they are portrayed in a comedic way, but they do. And it’s very important to keep this topic of discussion relevant to prevent it from happening in the future. I know this response might seem very out of place (especially in a website like this lol), but I thank you for recognizing these people for what they are— assholes. If people don’t see the harm behind people’s actions, our future will be damaged beyond repair.

Girly u can't be studying "understanding sexuality" and be homophobic. Or maybe that's why u enrolled for it?
