Why is the ending i remember different from what you said? Rather than happy ending, it's more like an open ending. Next chapter is when nobunaga will hear ranmaru and toshiro talking and he'll realise some things. After that the 2nd fwap fwap happens. Mitsuhide will betray nobunaga, nobunaga will send ranmaru back to his time. So in the end, history plays out just like it did. The ending implies that nobunaga has reincarnated and they met but we never got to see what nobunaga looks like in modern times.
