I think it's just showing us a glimpse of what kids romance could be. I mean Coco has no idea, that Caligo is having a bit of a crush on her and he is processing his feelings by being a bit of a tsundere. There's no actual shipping in this. Just Caligo having a crush the girl who saved him
Why author trying so hard to ship Coco and Caligo? She's not only a puppy originally but they're also kids. Let them be kids. I love how the whole premise about family and family love, dont put freaking kids romance here. If you need romance genre that desperately we have grown ass adults like Duke, Chloe and Chloe's brother.
