No, it wasn't just for the seme, the translator wrote in one of the chapter summaries that he got plastic surgery so he could become a voice actor. In Korea many jobs will require you to send in a photo so appearance matters quite a bit. Some people photoshop their pictures but a lot get surgery.
also can't forget where he was explaining how he dieted as well and if people lose a lot of weight they need plastic surgery to fix the skin that is hanging off or it looks unnatural. if everyone remembers correctly he was very big in the beginning so losing all that weight from diet and exercise he would need to fix the skin which can only be done with plastic surgery, but that was just my thought because of how the character was explaining about himself.
