I don´t think you are right about his mother I mean surely she was worried and all but don´t think she really understand him or love him or that part of him and that´s pretty common most parents are like that too.
His mom and dad are quite conventional. They feel their son is a failure by being gay. But perhaps the mother still has a slight care for her child.
