Nothing to surprise. This is the result from misogynic culture and norm they practice, to the point that they hate that "women" exist and want to change everything in sight to male to fit their belief. I doubt that if someone dares to go to yaoi series and comment "Protagonists are so feminine, I reading this imagine them as a lesbian couple", they'll be cool with it or bombard the OP with hate and
anger.
I had encountered many of people like these in real life and many of their behaviors made me cringe, such as when they see straight couples they can't stop talk shit after the girls' back like "That guy is good looking. Why he has ugly ass girlfriend. He better dump her for a guy". And no doubt, almost all of these people are yaoi fangirls (not all yaoi fangirls are misogynic but sadly, many of them I met are).
PS. Good to see some sane people here. Have a nice day. :)

Omg, I don't even want to think about the kind of hate a reader would get if they dared to go on a yaoi BL page to do something similar.
You're right, it's not surprising; I always find misogynistic comments from girls/women to be particularly saddening. Red as a character is far more realistic than most yaoi uke/seme stereotypes--even based solely on how she's drawn--yet *she* is the one met with disbelief? ┗( T﹏T )┛
You have a nice day too, Jay :D.
I read way more BL on this site. BL is filled with a gazillion petite feminine men with flowing hair, slim physique, tiniest waists, long lashes, big eyes---and the comment sections are never filled with readers shocked and confused about the characters' gender. They like cute things, sweet things, -- even cross dress! Nope. Not even for crazy omegaverse where husbands are "wives" and fathers are "mums" for reasons.
Yet here we have so much *shock* and *amazement* that Red is a woman. How? How!? Look at how physically fit she is! There are visible muscles (and breasts but let's skip that) this is insanely manly wow. And she's so aggressive because, oh, she's a soldier and it's not odd for the military to attract that kind of personality.
To think she looks androgynous is one thing but this over the top reaction to such a female character when we bury ourselves in male characters who *give birth* is too much for me.
