Fyi yaoi and shounen ai are western term. It's called BL in Japan, so yaoi is just hardcore BL and shounen ai is soft BL, or actually (this might be disturbing) shounen ai means pedophilia, boy love/lover of the boys. Japanese pedo who's into litte boys uses this term (even western pedo uses Boy Love term ). The more you know.

Nah. Shotacon is otaku's term, and mainly used it 2D media. But shounen ai is legit pedohile term. It's literally means Pederasty. Chinese and Japanese pedos (legit ones) uses this term,

Ooh. I looked at the Japanese article for "Boys Love" too. I always thought yaoi and shounen ai were outdated terms and now BL is being used (in Japan, that is). But it says since 10 or so years ago, there's been an increasing shift from "yaoi" to "BL." So where did Westerners even get the term "shounen-ai" from? A transliteration of BL?
Wait, made a translation mistake. Not 10 years. Since early 2000s it says. Seems the West is still behind xD Guess it's to be expected seeing as it didn't spread to the West until later. I knew both were Western terms, I just wish more people knew. I've had people on here debate with me when I say in Asia, it's all called BL whether it has sex or not. They're all "No, yaoi and shounen ai are Japanese terms!" I used to say "Yeah, but they're not really used anymore." Now I guess I should say "yeah, but yaoi isn't used really anymore and shounen ai doesn't even mean the same thing in Japanese." XD
Yeah xD Japanese still use "yaoi" or "801" nowadays but I never saw they use "shounen ai", My Japanese fujo friend even said she never heard that term before. I used to browse deepweb like 5 years ago and found a Japanese pedo site named shounen ai or something like that. That's why I feel cringey whenever someone called a soft BL as shounen ai. I hope mangago and other manga sites just remove that term.
