I feel like it's probably the curse
It might be that only teacher remembers his past and that's why others are just mindlessly craving for souls, maybe? There haven't been many of them so I'm not really sure how it works.
Is the grandma forgetting things 'coz she's old or the reason is the curse? But teacher knew who he is. Is it different for every cursed ones?
