Maybe because, as we can see in a few chapters and in the las one, she's totally obsessed by Conor, in a very toxic way, and so it wouldn't be surprising at all that she would lie like that to try to keep him for herself.

Why's everyone assuming that she's lying and hating on her so much?? I mean, I'm also very pissed at how we, as always, didn't get to fully enjoy their short-lived moment of happiness. But I personally don't think she's lying. She seemed like a decent person throughout the story, I don't think she'll go that far tbh
