You and I read this with the same mind! Get out of my head! LOL Just kidding. I thought precisely the same thing you did in regards to both the story and the art. For a first story, if this is their first, this is how every fledgling mangaka wishes their stories turned out. You can tell the artist is new at it, but you can also see the incredible amount of potential in their work.
I, like the majority of the readers here got thrown off by the artwork at first but the cover drew me in as I was expecting a BL with hetero love triangle. The author had an intricate plot in mind. So s/he(sorry I don't know his/her gender) layered the story piece by piece, which I found quite appealing. Near the end, it got a little but rushed but overall I enjoyed how everything panned out(I am a sucker of happy endings after all!). Although I kinda guessed that[SPOILER ALERT]

Colby might be posing as the girl I did not expect Brad to turn out to be a psyho. A plot twist like that is not easy to pull out. So, I hope to see more of this Author's work in the future. I think with more practice & time her/his talent will flourish.
