Hopefully the seme starts changing too. But I agree with other commenters, Ayumu has always been changing. So he has been making a change from the start of the chapter. Now we're waiting for the seme to start changing

Seme's already made a change though??????
Ayumu's change was far less obvious from the start it was quite painful to watch- Seme-seme has already took a step to actually talk to Ayumu. Obv he didn't do that in the case when he got jealous, which is lowkey understandable. But I personally think it's a pretty big step to be able to talk to a stranger you've only met once or twice about it. He's also changing, and has been changing, while Ayumu's change this time is a lot more obvious, since they focused on him realising something.

    Still proud of them both though ;w;

Nope. Most of the stuff is Ayumu has been changing from the start. Ayumu was the one who called out the fact that the seme was not a molester. Ayumu was the one to tell the girl that the seme was not angry with her, the second time they helped her out. Ayumu has chronic anxiety from the start, when he decided to help, the fact that he thought about all those people merely paying attention to him eventhough it is simply to help someone else is quite extreme.

The fact that despite that he still helped out, it showed that Ayumu started the change. Before that he couldn't even give back an umbrella but because to help someone else (the seme) he overcame his chronic fear to talk. It might not seem much to you but the evidence from before and even during the molester incident showed that his anxiety to talk is quite bad. So to talk in front of a group of people who was already making a BIG commotion, it's a big deal. And I have to commend him for that.

The seme does not have the same chronic fear or anxiety but he couldn't fight back the girl nor could he tell the girl that he doesn't dislike her. He also has a fear of talking but it's not as bad as Ayumu yet he couldn't do something that Ayumu did simply for him.

Seme took the step to talk, yes. But that was, once? After that, there were many cases of miscommunication of simple things but he did not talk. And once again, his fear is not as extreme as Ayumu so the change should have been simpler and easier but it was not. Remember Ayumu has a chronic FEAR which is much more difficult to overcome than what the seme has which is simply insecurity(not trying to downplay it but you can't compare that to Ayumu's) so him talking to Ayumu is actually much EASIER than Ayumu speaking in front of a crowd for him. Can you imagine someone with a chronic fear like Ayumu talking in front of people?

Ayumu runs from contact with small groups of people

Yet he talked loudly for the first time for someone he barely knew, someone he thought was a pervert chasing him. In front of a crowd looking at him.

(His reaction to people looking at him) See how different he and Touma deals with it. Touma does not get as affected like Ayumu.

"In his head, he has always been thinking about Touma's actions on his own even from the very start(eg. realising that Touma is the same as he is and thus wouldn't have hurt him). People say that he's just learning from the recent chapters but he has been learning from chapter 1. He has always been caring and considerate and the fact that someone like him would speak up for others even when the fear of being noticed is delipitating, it's wonderful. He is ALWAYS reflecting on his actions. Then working on his shyness on his own. He's so wonderful. "

    Quote from another commenter.

Like the persons said, Ayumu is always reflecting. Even before he met Touma, he was thinking of ways to change himself.

    http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/motto_hanashi_o_shitai_no_dakedo/mi/dff3e1b6372d631284a50515c4207fb6_chapter-1/9/

Then when he has Touma as a friend, he speaks out his feelings properly.

    http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/motto_hanashi_o_shitai_no_dakedo/mi/dff3e1b6372d631284a50515c4207fb6_chapter-2/29/

Touma does not have the same chronic fear. He can still talk to others normally which Ayumu can't even do.

So as you can see, Ayumu's change is much more obvious and drastic. From someone who RUNS from conversation to someone who can speak more easily to Touma from the first time they met up. Ayumu's change is much greater and obvious.

Touma's change is much recent. I can't count him talking to Ayumu as a change because it's not as big of a deal. Touma CAN talk to people more easily than Ayumu. Ayumu was UNABLE to talk to people even if it was simple conversation. While Touma gets more uncomfortable at STRESSED situation while other situation he can speak normally unlike Ayumu. So actually Ayumu has been making great changes from the start.

tldr: Ayumu has been making changes from the start. He has always reflected upon himself and the seme. Before even meeting the seme, he was already thinking of ways to change. He couldn't even hold a conversation but the seme has shown that he is able to with others.

Ayumu reflects: Before he met the seme, he already wanted to change because he knows he can't continue this way.

Then he thinks about how he might be boring to the seme but he doesn't hide behind his insecurities, he actually discussed it with the seme. And this was during their FIRST meetup.

Then, when he realised he misunderstood the convo he heard between the seme and the girl that was interested in the seme. He reflected his actions and his feelings. Then he realised his feelings and spoke out.

Then he reflects about the fact that the date may have gone sour because he panicked too much.

Ayumu changes: Was unable to give back an umbrella. Couldn't hold a convo about a cat. Then he spoke out in front of a big crowd. Then he discussed his thoughts to the seme (about being boring). Then he admitted his feelings to the seme. Then when he realised he needed to apologise eventhough he was thinking about how scary it is, he still did it by calling the seme(though it was not answered).

Then when they made up eventhough he has no reason to speak up since they already made up. He KNEW that if he didn't say anything it is not good. So he still told the seme his feelings and the fact he was anxious because he lacked experience.

    http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/motto_hanashi_o_shitai_no_dakedo/mi/iur_chapter-5/pg-6/

The seme was jealous but he couldn't say it to Ayumu. But look at all the things Ayumu has reflected, said and done by chapter 5. He has done so many things that was impossible for him before but he has always been TRYING. Always reflecting and always forcing himself to say BECAUSE he doesn't want to hurt people, doesn't want Touma to misunderstand.

Then when he was insecure, he again discussed it with the seme.

Ayumu has always changed. It's always big. So maybe you didn't see it (or you didn't think it was a big deal) but I just wanted you to know. Part of Ayumu's character is the fact that he ALWAYS reflects on his actions, ALWAYS tries to discuss things with the seme eventhough he said it himself he was scared and it's difficult but he realised he NEEDED to. It's why you can't say that JUST started reflecting or realising something because his character is to always reflect and talk. The fact that he sometimes don't get simple things is not because he did not want to change, it's because he had SO LITTLE interaction with people, simple interactions are lost to him. So you can't say that he starts realising things by himself. That's difficult for someone who had very little interactions from the start to learn from unlike the seme.

Seme's change though, it's not much nor is it very obvious. This is because like I said, his fear is not as drastic as Ayumu. Yet Ayumu has done much more changes than the seme. The seme still keeps a lot of things to himself while Ayumu always tries to talk when he is insecure or doubtful and then tries to change. And this was by chapter 5.

Even Touma knows that Ayumu is very extreme.

    http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/motto_hanashi_o_shitai_no_dakedo/mi/iur_chapter-6/pg-8/

Tldr: Ayumu has chronic fear of speaking. Touma doesn't have chronic fear of speaking. He stopped talking because he thought it was better than hurting people because he was too straightforward. Yet, he still couldn't speak up for himself. And when he has insecurities(like jealousy), he keeps it quiet rather than talk unlike Ayumu (and I don't mean the times that he aggressively tells Ayumu what Ayumu is feeling like during their date. That showed that he has once again did not change because he deals with situations like that in an aggressive way because he can't deal with it properly). Therefore, Ayumu's change was always bigger and more obvious. And until the seme can show that he can talk more easily about his feelings and thoughts, unlike the usual aggressive way he does, it's difficult to say that the seme has truly start changing.

    http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/motto_hanashi_o_shitai_no_dakedo/mi/iur_chapter-6/pg-13/

Touma even recognised Ayumu's fear and his courage.

    http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/motto_hanashi_o_shitai_no_dakedo/mi/iur_chapter-6/pg-24/

Ayumu is really special with a pure heart.

Sorry to cut in, but I agree with the other person. It's not as difficult for the seme to talk than the uke. You can't classify him talking to a stranger as a change because the seme isn't afraid of talking to strangers. His problem is because he is too straightforward because he can't speak Japanese very well. The reason why he can't talk in stressful situations is because his Japanese is not very good so he needs time to talk but if he is given the time and a more relaxed situation, he can
actually talk to people. Ayumu is the one that has trouble talking to strangers at all.

I think telling someone that he loves them is actually easy for the seme because he's straightforward. His friends from before he moved to Japan has also said that he is the type to move everything to his own pace and that's why he is so misunderstood in Japan. But also even with that misunderstanding. He doesn't talk not because he is afraid but because he doesn't want to hurt others. He doesn't have a fear of talking, it's why he could easily say that Ayumu was a 'frighteningly shy boy.' While Ayumu is afraid of making people angry, the seme doesn't mind, he is not affected by others' perception like Ayumu.

@fairytailgrey identified the seme's problem correctly, his change has to be how he is too straightforward. He has said that he needs to match someone else's pace and he needs to change for Ayumu in chapter 6 or 7 I think. But he still hasn't actually change or match Ayumu's pace. He's almost like a bullet train with his thoughts and feelings when he expresses it that makes Ayumu stunned like a petrified rabbit.

His change has to be by being able to talk in a proper manner without speeding through with his own thoughts and feelings. I actually think he can learn from Ayumu because Ayumu always asks about the seme's actions even when he has his own assumptions about the seme's actions while the seme is more likely to assume things and then go along with that assumption without asking and taking the time to talk properly. Even when the seme does talk, it's more to 'accuse' rather than to determine the problem by properly asking.

I too, would like to see the seme start changing.
