I'm pretty sure that Shio's father adopted Aoi seeing as that's how the conversation in the hospital scene went. So I guess it's like picking up a stray cat(or dog in this case) and it becoming a part of one's family.
Huh? Aoi and shios dad were lovers? I thought the dad just picked Aoi up and gave him a family. No romantic relationships involved.....? Im confused? Am i missing something? Though honestly the whole manga is confusing. Like it nonetheless.
