I was thinking exactly the same thing as both of your theories whilst reading this.

This one has a lot of potential. I already have two theories.
1) He was a victim of the serial killer and it traumatised him, maybe he was raped by them and now he has like this urge of have sex when those memories of that trauma were brought up.
2) He's the serial killer. Maybe he has like a double personality disorder. Or maybe a friend of him was and because of his disorder he (the friend) made him think he was the serial killer, which can also be connected to theory one. Everyone would be traumatised if their friend raped them. And maybe when he saw the body he thought he (uke) was doing it again (friend made him believe he's the killer) but he couldn't remember because of his disorder
