He could still be doing it in order to get the puppy t relax, then betray him, or to get his original target jealous... But I do hope I'm wrong and that it's really Kawachi that he's after, because that'd be more interesting. ლ(´ڡ`ლ)

He did make that sex buddies joke and then seems to be quite attached to the puppy.
