In some cultures only prostitutes shave, so it is look as something perverted... not good... sick...

My shaving statement was made in jest; though, I can see some people did not find the humor in it. We found out the hard way that the Japanese view shaving as a bad thing. My friend shaved and went onsening in a local Japanese village, and the women would not get in the same hot water bath as my friend. She thought it was because she was a foreigner but later found out it was because they thought she was a prostitute since she shaved her lady bits. She was so embarrassed. lol.
Oh the joys of other cultures..:)

I know!!! They should have pamflets in every airport about what do not do in the country!!! In some countries look a guy to his eyes means you want a conversation, in ither countries you are giving him permission to have sex with you...

That is why is better to investigate the country you go before, even in Google, because many official guides don't give all the information (like the shaving thing)... a friend of mine had people look at him in disgust because he is used his left hand when he visited mid-asia... he later learned that left hand is used in order to clean your butt after using the toilet and it is seen as dirty!!!

Yep! Normally, when I do research or learn about another country it's from others experiences. I do my best to prepare since I travel a lot. I try to follow what I see for the most part and just be self aware. However, little nuisances are hard to learn about until you are in the culture itself. As for the butt thing, my family went to a wedding in India and my dad was told do not use his left hand...lol..good times...:)
