okay, well thats a generalization, everywhere has guys like that, and considering the fact that you're not from korea... well... you can't exactly say that you know how men in korea are.
I know because my mom's boyfriend is korean and every time he see me he talk about "how I can be more beautiful if I lose some weight"

While I do agree that it's a generalization (not all of the men think like that and it would be weird to believe millions of men all have the same mindset), it is still generally known that in Korea, people value appearances much more than in the West.
In the West, people tend to advocate the ''You are perfect just the way you are'' and ''body acceptance'' or ''self-acceptance''. Of course, in the West you have a LOT of people who are like the men in this manga, but there's also a HUGE group of people who advocate body acceptance. While in Korea, things like plastic surgery is advertised heavily, accepted and sometimes even expected of people who do not fit a certain mold. They value a thin and beautiful appearance more than in the West, which is a why this manga is so realistic. You can just look that up and read or hear the stories of people who do live in Korea.
