it was originally for waki to fell in love with rikiichi in the first place but the author messed up and gave this unfinished feeling about waki's story, at the end of 60 chap the author clearly said it was supposed waki storyline about losing memory and found a new love... this just my complete theory and opinion so the author was really indeed paired waki with rikiichi and tend to make waki suffers and lose his memory and after that he met magane, so magane was like a second love to waki his first and only love was still rikiichi and that is also why he always missed him and cried even after revived magane and said that he'll looking forward to his own death so that he can be together again with rikiichi because for waki his trully companion (and love) was rikiichi....(btw i said it because i am biased too lol i ship rikiichi with waki so hard) and for me aside from the gay couple actually i really like yukino and takamitsu couple and i hope the author would make a special chapter for them because yukino seems very mysterious and i really want to know how could she be developed such a feeling as love to takamitsu and the way she talked to takamistu was sooooo cool!!! like she was dominated in their relationship i love them so much even their story appeared less than uta and hozumi couple but i cherish them so much

woooowwwwwwww!!! Yay, I love Rikichi and waki too, magane is the kind of dumb guy who goes around with no sense of personal space that I hate in yaoi

She was a kotodama. She had the power over him, and for compensation for Shoui's birth father (as Takamitsu's brother ) and Uta, they raised Shoui. As I understand it.... :)

Aw man! The feels! Rikiichi is possibly THE most generous character I have ever encountered, yaoi or otherwise! It's no wonder I keep re-reading this manga after all this time.

I think the dynamic between Rikiichi and Waki is a bit similar to comrades-in-arms. Such a deep and profound love that exists in a different sphere from romantic/sexual, even if it sometimes delves into that direction. Both of them in awe of each other's power, bouncing off each other's strengths. Only the two of them use the term "Ze" and only to each other (correct me if I'm wrong, please!). This is their own secret language, and a pact that transcends both life and death.

Even Magane is like their "offspring," a product of Rikiichi's kotodama and Waki's past life.

It would have been really interesting to see how their relationship would have been represented (yep, I ship them quite hard too), but personally, I prefer it this way. Love is love, after all.

I know she was a kotodama she was rikiichi's only child after all haha but i really want to know her story with takamitsu...like her son with konoe because it appears kotoha and yukino tend to be overprotective in kind a cute way to the one that they loved the most aren't they cute and not like her son her significant other was just ordinary human being so i really excited about her story well it could be different then uta and hozumi story cause as i said yukino pretty much would be dominating in their relationship
